Feather Meal is a valuable by-product of the poultry, broiler and turkey processing industries.

Feather Meal is produced by a rendering process, partially grinding the feathers under elevated heat and pressure. It is then dried, cooled and ground into a powder for use as a protein source for animal feed.  
​
For ruminants, Feather Meal can be included in combination with Blood Meal to provide improved growth rates in calves or singly as a protein supplement in lactating dairy cattle.
​
For pig feeds, Feather Meal can be included as a protein and energy source to partly replace other protein sources such as Soybean Meal.
​
For poultry feeds, inclusion of Feather Meal with methionine has been found to provide the required supplemental protein for growing birds, as well as shell thickness in layers.
 
For fish feeds, depending on the target species and stage of growth, Feather Meal has been found to provide almost as much protein and nutrients as Blood Meal.
